Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire, a quiet community situated in The West Island of Montreal is an example of a "sleepy" place. In reality, the West Island, to those who are unfamiliar with it, is a large area that extends from Lachine all the way west. It is often cited as the birthplace of Amanda Brugel but while that is true, her stay there was not long. Brugel was raised in Courtice in the town of Oshawa. She was determined to become a professional dancer but due to her rapid growth spurt she outgrew all of her dance partners. In an article written by the Toronto Star that she is 6'1" tall, even when she wears heels. As I got bigger than my male partners, I quit. A lot of former dancers go on to acting, and in Brugel's case it was a suggestion from one of her drama teachers at the high school who encouraged her to go towards the right path. The teacher suggested that she pursue a role for the school's annual production. The teacher who suggested that she play a character in the annual school production. The show was a recipient of an Fine Arts Talent Scholarship to attend York University's Theatre Program and graduated at the age of 20 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts. Since then, she's appeared performing in over 60 shows on large screens as well as smaller ones. She gained the most fame when she was offered the role as Rita of the acclaim-winning television show The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel was the sole Canadian part of the cast during the season 1 of the series. She was only seen occasionally.
