Holly Hunter was an American actress who became famous for the films Broadcast News The Firm The Piano The Incredibles. She has won numerous awards for her work, including an Oscar. The accomplished actress started her career as an actor by performing on stage, with an array of Broadway as well as Off-Broadway productions. The art of acting has been a constant obsession. When she was in fifth grade, she played Helen Keller in an original play. Mumps led her to lose hearing in one of her ears, but this didn't stop the actress from following her dreams. When she was in college studying drama and moving in New York City with her plans with her sights set. Hunter was trapped in an elevator with the playwright Beth Henley when she met her. They collaborated to create Broadway Crimes of the Heart which marked Hunter's Broadway debut. When she moved to Los Angeles, she began to search for film roles. The role she was offered came as an actress supporting the main character in Swing Shift. Over the past three decades, since she was a part of the film she has appeared in many films, TV shows and movies. Holly Hunter won a star at the Hollywood Walk of Fame, as well as an award called the Women in Film Lucy Award.
